1 beef top sirloin steak, weighing two pounds, 1 1/2 inches thick
1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
1/4 cup shredded carrots
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 tablespoon margarine or butter
4 teaspoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon dried basil, crushed
Dash pepper
1/2 cup Plain Lowfat Yogurt
1/2 cup Fat Free Milk
Recipe Directions
Trim fat from steak. Place steak on un-heated rack of broiler pan. Broil meat 3 inches from heat, turning halfway through cooking. (Allow 14 to 16 minutes total time for rare, 18 to 20 minutes for medium, and 25 to 30 minutes for well-done.)
Meanwhile, in saucepan cook mushrooms, carrots, and onions in margarine until tender. Stir flour, basil, and pepper into Yogurt; stir into mixture in saucepan. Add Milk. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly; cook and stir 1 minute more.
Sprinkle steak with additional pepper. To serve, slice the meat diagonally across grain into 1/4-inch-thick slices. Place on serving platter. Spoon small amount of sauce over meat. Serve remaining sauce. Makes 6 servings.
